What Is Climate Change? Climate change means long-term shifts in Earth’s average temperature and weather.
From 2015–2024, Earth’s temperature was about 1.28°C warmer than in the late 1800s. (source: BBC)
2024 was the hottest year ever recorded. It was also the first full year to pass 1.5°C of warming, a limiting target set by UN. (source: UN)
The Role of CO₂ Burning fossil fuels releases carbon dioxide (CO₂). This gas traps heat like a greenhouse. Since the Industrial Revolution, CO₂ levels have jumped over 50%.
What Are the Effects? More heatwaves & floods. Ice melting → sea levels rising. Oceans warming → stronger storms. Wildlife under pressure.
Why 1.5°C Target Matters? Why? Because beyond that, the damage gets worse: More extreme heat and weather events, a rise in seas, less food security, more diseases, coral reefs deplete, land and marine biodiversity affected.
What Can You Do? Fly less. Use less energy. Drive less or go electric. Eat less red meat. Make your home more efficient. Educate and spread awarness.
